"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." : (Romans 15:13)
It was decided that the year 2012 - the 135th year of CBS history - should be a year of celebration.
The primary reason for the celebration was that the year would see a hope fulfilled - the construction of a new block fifty years after the last block (the Chapel Building) was built.
As the year progressed, there were other causes for celebration. Three CBS lads made themselves eligible for science scholarships valued at Rs. 80,000/- per year for five years by being placed in the list of the top 1% achievers in the ISC (Class 12) Board Examinations.
One of them, Rhine Samajdar (with an average of 99%), came first at the state level, second in the country and third at the international level.
At the ICSE level, 70 out of 126 candidates obtained an average of 90% and above.
From the Middle School emerged two achievers that came first at the National level and won cash prizes of Rs. 1,00,000/- each : Sayar Banerjee (National Computer Olympiad) and Rupayan Sarkar (National Science Olympiad).
The icing on the cake - the créme de la créme - was the announcement that a former student of CBS, Sri Altamas Kabir, was appointed Chief Justice of India.
The pujas had not yet arrived and yet another cause for celebration arose - the inaugural meeting of the Delhi Chapter of the CBS Old Boys' Association where eminent former students acknowledged their indebtedness to their Alma Mater.
'Hitherto - Henceforth' : the Lord has watched over the school 'hitherto', He shall continue to do so 'henceforth'. Let us celebrate the year as the year of Hope.
